The annual WhatCar? Awards ceremony has named the BMW diesel 5-series the Car of the Year. It was also named the Luxury Car of the Year, beating the Mercedes S-class and the Rolls Royce Ghost.
About the Winner
The BMW 5 series is a sharp mid-sized luxury car manufactured by the German automaker BMW. It stands in a class of its own with its power and economical twin-power turbo engines in petrol or diesel. Renault picked up two awards, with the Zoe winning the electric category and the 3008 i-Cockpit picking up the Technology Award. The award for the best convertible was given to the Mazda MX-5. Toyota Prius won the Safety Award, while the Hyundai i10 won the Best City Car. Finally, the Ford Fiesta ST was voted Best Hot Hatch.
