Searching for shark’s teeth and exotic seashells is a favorite past time. Venice Beach is a public beach that has official lifeguards, picnic areas, concession stands, public restrooms, and lots of fun-filled activities for all ages. It’s a great place to go swimming and snorkeling while you explore the shallow reef that’s not far from shore.

Kayaking and Canoeing

The Venice coastline provides miles of beautiful scenery with calm, area creeks and rivers that are great for kayaking, canoeing, and paddle-boarding. The calm, warm gulf waters are filled with colorful fish and sea creatures that make Venice a paddler’s dream adventure. It’s easy to find area launches that rent kayaks and canoes, so you can explore different waterway trails at your own pace.

Fishing

If you’re a fisherman, the warm waters of the Gulf are filled with various types of fish. Since Florida has a year-round temperate climate, you can go fishing all year. Some of the hot fishing spots include Sharky’s Pier, the Jettys, and Caspersen Beach where flounder, sea trout, Spanish mackerel, red fish, and sheepshead are abundant most of the year. If you want to snag a bigger fish like red snapper, black-fin tuna, or shark, you’ll need to charter a deep-sea boat and head west off the beaches.

Walks and Bicycling

Along the Venetian Waterway Park you’ll find five miles of walking and biking trails that run right next to the water. The path travels to the old Venice Train Station, then connects to Legacy Trail which includes 23 miles of undisturbed trails and natural scenery. The Venetian Waterway Park is the perfect place for exploring nature. It’s filled with beautiful scenery, picnic shelters with grills and benches, rest stations for your pooch.

Venice, Florida is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s a unique place with quiet ambiance, historic architecture, beautiful beaches, and lots of fun activities. All you need to do is hold your mail at the Post office and head off into the sunset.
