Factors to consider when choosing a restaurant pager system

Pager systems in restaurants offer better overall efficiency, but what factors do you need to consider when choosing one for your establishment?

Range and signal

Depending on the size of your building, you may need to consider which smart devices offer the best range. Plus, if you have thick concrete walls or your restaurant has multiple rooms and floors, you may need to investigate things like signal strength and look into long-range pager systems.

Battery life

Some pager systems will only last one shift, but what if your restaurant operates covers from dusk to dawn? When looking at a pager system, you should check its battery life and also the time it takes to recharge.

Durability

Pagers are often put through it, being placed on worktops with hot counters, liquid and steam. You may need to investigate which systems have the most durable design and will withstand regular usage.

Ease of use

Unless you want to hold an extensive training session with all your staff, you’ll want a pager system that is easy to use. On top of that, pager systems that are intuitive will lead to better efficiency.

Furthermore, with some pager software having customer-facing platforms, you want the technology to be as straightforward as possible for your customers as well as for your staff.

Technological integration

If you find a great pager system, it will work in tandem with all your other equipment to offer the most seamless processes. Many systems will integrate with your POS, but you may find that some cheaper options won’t work with the equipment in your restaurant, wasting time and money

Budget

With all this said, you have probably realised that the best pager systems come at a higher cost. If you can’t afford a pager system that offers all of the above, then sit down and work out which qualities are most important to your business.

If you don’t need fancy features, then the benefit of cheaper models is that they cost less to replace if necessary.
