Budgeting and Planning for Your Wedding  Day

Planning for your wedding is something that you want to get right, after all its one of life’s most memorable experiences, and you want to make sure that it is memorable in a good way! Weddings can also be notoriously expensive – from choosing the perfect venue, to food and drinks to the clothes and the flowers, it can all quickly add up and some couples find that they are drowning in debt before they are even married.

Being careful to plan your wedding and budget accordingly, you can avoid falling into debt before your big day and just enjoy it!

When you first start your wedding planning you need to work out your budget. Sit down with your partner and work out how much you can afford to spend and also what you are comfortable spending on your wedding. Once you have a figure, you can then break it down into different categories, such as the venue, the flowers, the food etc.

Research what things are likely to cost – whether you want the wedding marquee cost from somewhere like this goodintents.co.uk/wedding-marquee-hire/ or the price for luxury car hire, make sure that you are aware of the prices of things so that you can allocate a realistic amount to it.

Setting up a spreadsheet can be a helpful way to manage your money as you go along so that you can quickly see if you have overspent on something.

When you are planning you also need to make sure that you prioritise what the most important things are for you. Everyone is different, so you might want a smaller wedding with ama=zing food, or you might prefer to have a large wedding at a grand venue and find ways to get the clothing for less. There are lots of creative ways to make things more affordable, but if there is something that is particularly important to you as a couple, make sure that you prioritise this in your budgeting plan.

There are lots of ways that you can save money when you do some things yourself too. If you, your partner or your friends and family are creative, then doing things like making invitations, your own table centrepieces and décor are all things that can help to save you some money! Make sure that you are realistic about how much time you have before you commit though – you don’t want to be spending the night before the wedding frantically trying to finish!
